About Ungdomsklubben Bizarre

Ungdomsklubben Bizarre is the only youth center in the Bergen area arranging alcohol free concerts with bands from alternative music genres. Ungdomsklubben Bizarre is a social meeting place for young people, as well as a venue for bands to get to perform for a young audience.

The Bizarre is run by a group of hard-working volunteers with the common goal of giving the local youth great concert experiences they otherwise never could have due to age restricted venues.

The Bizarre also has a café, which serves more than just inexpensive food. You will find a cozy atmosphere, good music and free Internet access. The Café is open Wednesdays from 17.00 to 20.30, as well as during concerts and events.

The making of Ungdomsklubben Bizarre
In the Autumn of 2004, Victoria Moldekleiv and Håkon Halland Pedersen founded the Ungdomsklubben Bizarre youth center. The concept for a goth/metal youth center was thought of due to the lack of promoters for these genres. The Dominion, at the time the only local venue in goth, industrial and EMD in Bergen, tightened its age restrictions to 20+. This inspired us to make an alternative for the younger audience.

The concept was based on Smågoth (now called Wonderland) in Kristiansand. Thanks to the youth center 1880, and financing by Frifond, the center was established without any major difficulties. Four bands: The Darwins, Malsain, Downstairs and Silent forest, played the Bizarre at the opening night 17.september 2004. Free entrance and great bands attracted an audience of 200 people. Since this successful event, Ungdomsklubben Bizarre has been arranging concerts and social evenings at Ungdomshuset 1880, the local youth center in Bergen.
